IN MEMORY OF BOYKIN SPANIELS PASSED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

ANGEL LEVEL

CAMI - Texas Trace Camilla 2010-2024

Cami passed comfortably March 6, 2024, at 14 years of age. While she hunted with us in November 2023 at 13+ years of age, the last few months she had been suffering from COPD and it was time to let her go.

We are saddened. It is difficult to lose a loved one and difficult to express how much they mean to you. Following is Michelle’s tribute to her great companion for so many years and the wonderful memories she leaves.

Written from Michelle

I am so grateful to have had years of companionship with Cami. She wasn’t big and powerful. She wasn‘t an alpha. She wasn’t beautiful or regal. She was a friend - to everyone, human and dog alike.

Cami demonstrated her ability to get along in her way of hunting. She would find the bird and POINT, patiently waiting for a human or other dog to join her. Then on command she would flush the bird and go find it where she would again wait for a more assertive dog to do the hard work of carrying it back. Then she would happily trot off to do it again.

Even in her advanced years she would play with other dogs, though she was happiest wherever her humans were. She spent hours with me dozing in the chair in my home office during long work-from-home days and was a wonderful snuggler on the couch.

I will miss my friend.

“Animals share with us the privilege of having a soul”.

This was Cami’s prayer when we laid her to rest:

“Come in haste to assist her, you Saints of God.

Come in haste to meet her, you Angels of the Lord.

Enfold in your arms this Soul,

And take your burden Heavenwards

To the sight of the Most High."

HEART LEVEL

GCH Texas Trace Sunny Side JH

Sunny as she was called passed away October 11, 2021. She passed on a beautiful day just sunning in the yard, one of the things she enjoyed, since she retired from hunting! Sunny will always be Ginger's first hunting buddy and show dog. Sunny also was a TV star on the Great Day Houston Show. She played to the camera, so much so she was featured on their webpage. We will miss her dearly.
